Wide-Format Flute Lamination for Corrugated Packaging Lines
The DS-1650SO is DAIS's large-format automatic laminating machine, developed for converters who mount offset-printed litho sheets onto corrugated board at production volume.
Handling sheets from 450 × 450 mm up to 1650 × 1650 mm, the machine covers the full range of corrugated display, shipper and e-commerce carton formats on a single platform. Top sheets from 150 to 800 g/m² are bonded to bottom board between 0.5 mm and 10 mm thick, so the same line can move from thin-flute retail packaging to heavy double-wall board without mechanical rebuilds.
Registration is controlled by a computerised servo system rather than mechanical linkage. Multiple inductive sensors track the leading edge of the bottom board, and independent servo motors on each side of the sheet compensate the top sheet position in real time — holding lamination accuracy within ±1.5 mm at production speed. A PLC and human-machine interface manage condition monitoring, fault display and production records, with the electrical design built to CE standards.
- Sheet range 450 × 450 mm to 1650 × 1650 mm
- Computerised high-speed lamination, up to 20,000 sheets/hour
- Dual independent servo compensation, ±1.5 mm accuracy
- PLC + HMI control with fault display and work records
- Manufactured on 100+ CNC machining centres at the DAIS plant
Six Engineering Features That Define the DS-1650SO
Each subsystem is built around one objective — keeping a 1650 mm sheet in register at full production speed, shift after shift.
Computerised High-Speed Lamination
Fully computerised drive control delivers continuous output of up to 20,000 sheets per hour at 700 mm sheet length, with a rated production speed of 15,000 sheets per hour across the working range.
Flow-Type Feeder Head
The stream feeder head carries four sets of forward suction nozzles plus two sets of upper and lower nozzles, separating and advancing large sheets smoothly without scuffing the printed surface.
E-Type Low-Platform Feeder Base
A low stacking platform lets pallets be positioned directly by pallet truck, cutting manual handling on heavy board. An optional rail-assisted pre-stacking table is available for non-stop loading.
Servo Glue Coating & Registration
Multiple inductive sensors read the forward position of the bottom board, while independent servo motors on both sides compensate the top sheet in real time — keeping upper and lower sheets aligned to ±1.5 mm.
PLC & HMI Control System
A human-machine interface with PLC status indication handles automatic condition detection, fault display and production record keeping. The electrical layout is designed to CE standards.
Shake-and-Loosen Delivery
The delivery section first shakes and loosens overlapping laminated sheets, then pushes the stack together — producing a square, even pile ready for the next converting stage.

Request Installation DrawingInside the Four Working Sections
From sheet separation to final stacking, every station on the DS-1650SO is built around registration stability at wide format.
Stream Feeder Head & Feeder Base
The flow-type feeder head separates sheets with four sets of forward suction nozzles working alongside two sets of upper and lower nozzles. Airflow and nozzle position are adjustable, so heavy 800 g/m² litho sheets and lightweight stock can both be fed without double-feeding or surface marking.
The feeder base uses an E-type low stacking platform: pallets of printed sheets are placed directly into position with a pallet truck, removing manual restacking on wide-format work. A rail-assisted pre-stacking table is available as an option for continuous, non-stop loading.
- 4 sets forward suction nozzles + 2 sets upper/lower nozzles
- E-type low platform, direct pallet truck loading
- Optional rail-assisted pre-stacking table
Glue Coating & Dual-Servo Registration
Multiple inductive sensors continuously read the forward position of the incoming bottom board. That signal drives two independent servo motors — one on each side of the sheet — which transmit and compensate the top sheet position in real time.
Because correction happens on both sides independently, skew is corrected as well as lead-edge timing. The result is stable upper-to-lower sheet alignment within ±1.5 mm, maintained at full production speed rather than only at set-up speed.
- Multi-point inductive sensing of bottom board position
- Independent left and right servo compensation
- ±1.5 mm lamination accuracy at production speed
Electronic Control System
Operation runs through a human-machine interface backed by a PLC program with status indication. The system performs automatic condition detection, displays abnormalities as they occur, and keeps a running record of production data for shift reporting.
Fault information is shown at the point of occurrence rather than as a generic alarm, shortening diagnosis time for the operator. The electrical planning follows CE standard practice, which simplifies compliance for buyers in European and other regulated markets.
- HMI touch operation with PLC status indication
- Automatic condition detection and abnormality display
- Production work records; CE standard electrical design
Delivery & Stacking Mechanism
Freshly laminated sheets arrive overlapped and under pressure. The delivery mechanism first shakes and loosens the pile so individual sheets settle, then pushes the stack square before it is discharged.
This two-stage action prevents edge misalignment and glue-induced sticking in the pile — important on 1650 mm sheets, where a small stacking error becomes a large downstream problem at die-cutting or folder-gluer.
- Shake-and-loosen action before stack consolidation
- Square, even pile ready for downstream converting
- Designed for large-format sheets up to 1650 × 1650 mm

Request Certification DocumentsWhere the DS-1650SO Earns Its Floor Space
Wide-format litho lamination sits at the front of most corrugated converting lines. These are the product categories the DS-1650SO is specified for most often.
E-Commerce & Shipping Cartons
High-volume mailer and shipper boxes where a printed litho face is mounted to single or double-wall board. The 15,000 sheets/hour rating and low-platform pallet loading suit continuous long-run production.
Retail Displays & POS Units
Floor-standing displays and counter units built on large panels. The 1650 × 1650 mm maximum sheet lets full display faces run in one pass instead of being split and joined.
Home Appliance & Electronics Packaging
Heavy-duty outer cartons using board up to 10 mm thick. Dual-servo compensation keeps print register accurate across large panel faces where misalignment is immediately visible.
Food & Beverage Trays
Printed trays, shelf-ready packaging and multipack wraps on thin flute. Sheets down to 450 × 450 mm and 150 g/m² top stock are handled on the same machine without tooling changes.
Gift, Cosmetic & Rigid Boxes
Premium packaging where surface finish matters. The stream feeder handles coated and laminated litho sheets without scuffing, and the shake-and-loosen delivery protects finished panels in the pile.
Industrial & Export Packaging
Large export crates and heavy transit packaging on double and triple-wall board. Board from 0.5 mm to 10 mm runs on one platform, covering light and heavy grades in the same plant.

DS-1650SO Buyer Questions Answered
The questions our engineers are asked most often during specification. If yours is not here, send it to us directly — we answer technical enquiries in full, not with a sales brochure.
What is the maximum sheet size the DS-1650SO can laminate?
The DS-1650SO handles a maximum sheet of 1650 × 1650 mm and a minimum of 450 × 450 mm. That range covers most large-format corrugated display panels as well as smaller retail cartons, so a single machine can serve both long-run and short-run work without a second laminator on the floor.
How many sheets per hour does the machine produce?
Rated machine speed is 15,000 sheets per hour across the working range. Peak output reaches 20,000 sheets per hour at 700 mm sheet length. Actual throughput depends on sheet size, board grade, glue coverage and operator set-up, so we recommend confirming a realistic figure for your specific job mix with our engineers.
What paper weight and board thickness can it handle?
Top sheets from 150 to 800 g/m² can be mounted onto bottom board between 0.5 mm and 10 mm thick. This spans thin-flute retail packaging through to double and triple-wall export board, and no mechanical rebuild is required to move between grades.
How accurate is the lamination registration?
Lamination accuracy is ±1.5 mm. Multiple inductive sensors read the forward position of the incoming bottom board, and two independent servo motors — one on each side of the sheet — compensate the top sheet position in real time. Because correction is applied independently on both sides, skew is corrected as well as lead-edge timing, and accuracy is held at production speed rather than only during set-up.
How much floor space and electrical supply does the machine require?
The DS-1650SO measures 15,340 mm long × 2,650 mm wide × 2,600 mm high and weighs 9,800 kg, so a level reinforced floor is recommended. Total connected load is 28 kW at 380 V / 50 Hz three phase. Voltage and frequency can be configured for the destination market on request. We supply the full dimensioned installation drawing before shipment so the line can be planned in advance.
Which brands of components are used in the machine?
Key components include NSK bearings and OMRON photoelectric switches from Japan, Schneider contactors and push buttons from France, Continental timing belts from Germany, and brand-name servo motors, drives, PLCs, and motion controllers from China. The complete 15-item parts list, including brand and country of origin, is provided in the Main Components section of this page. As our products are continuously upgraded, electrical components and machine configurations may be changed without prior notice. Please contact our customer service team for the latest configuration details.
What warranty and after-sales support does DAIS provide?
We provide ongoing technical and after-sales support, including remote troubleshooting, operation guidance, maintenance advice, and spare parts support.
Is the electrical system built to international standards?
The electrical planning follows CE standard practice, and the control system uses a human-machine interface with PLC status indication for automatic condition detection, abnormality display and production record keeping. DAIS products have also passed inspection by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China. Please request the current documentation package so you can confirm exactly which certificates apply to your market before ordering.
How do I confirm the DS-1650SO is the right model for my production?
Before ordering, you can provide the top sheet and bottom board size, paper weight, flute type, board thickness, and photos of your finished products. Our technical team will recommend and confirm the machine configuration based on your actual production requirements. For special materials, testing requirements can also be discussed in advance to ensure proper compatibility.
